Hi there, I’m Katherine, but you can call me Kate!

My pronouns are she/her, and I am a current senior at the University of Minnesota-Duluth working towards an Acting and Musical Theater BFA as well as a Biochemistry B.S., and will be graduating in December of 2026.

I am interested in exploring with a focus of curiosity and discovery within my work. As my majors may have told you, I am not only an artist, but a scientist as well! For a lot of my life I told myself I had to separate the worlds, but by embracing both sides, and letting both be present in my process, I have unlocked a new joy when it comes to the work.

“Artists and scientists share a common approach. They enter into their work with one hand firmly grasping the specific and the other hand on the unknown. We must trust ourselves to enter into this abyss with openness, with trust in ourselves, despite the unbalance and vulnerability.”

This has come to fruition mostly in the way that I approach Shakespeare (which is my most current obsession). I like to break it down, analyzing the structure and the rhythm of the text. Once I understand it, it lives in me, and then - I can jump.

Most recently, I adapted Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, to be a lottery style, rooted in the idea that anyone can be anything. You don’t need to look a certain way in order to live a life full of love. I faced a lot of discourse growing up that can make it challenging to believe I deserve to explore worlds like that, and my goal as an artist is to remind everyone that they deserve to be loved and to follow their dreams.

A newfound passion of mine is photography! I am the designated “photographer friend.” I love capturing moments for people to look back on and engage with the memories of them. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to capture some of these moments when it comes to my personal work as well as my friends’!

When I’m not doing art (or science) you can find me adventuring up the north shore, curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee, or thrifting!
